For Evi and Koen’s birthdays, we would like to raise funds for the NICU at St. Paul Hospital (SPH) in lieu of presents. Both Evi and Koen were born at SPH. Evi was born on December 22, 2015. And Koen was born, prematurely, on December 14, 2017.  Evi was discharged after one night, and Koen stayed here for another 5 weeks.

We have chosen to support the NICU, as the NICU became our second home with Koen’s five week stay. We visited Koen every day in the hospital as he was continuing to grow and thrive. Although it was a stressful period in our lives, the support, care and professional knowledge of the nurses and doctors gave us assurance that Koen was in good hands. We are very thankful for the care Koen has received during his stay, and also realized how much it cost to run a NICU well!

Last year we spent Christmas eve in the hospital. This year we plan on going to visit the NICU with Koen and Evi to drop off presents for the current NICU families and staff. We hope to make this a family tradition every year.
