St. Paul's Foundation - In Memory Pages

In Memory of Brett McLean

It is with very sad and heavy hearts that Terry (Ted Snider & family), Jerry (Sandi Brown & family), Jordan (Luc, Ryan Francis & family) and Robert Scharff announce the sudden and tragic passing of Brett at the young age of 23. Also left to mourn are Auntie Pam & family, Uncle Gerry (Johnny), Georgia, plus extended family and friends, past and present. Not to be forgotten is Brett's adored dog Lucky.

Brett struggled for many years with ongoing help and support, but sadly in the end was unable to manage the disease of addiction. She loved and was loved. She was always at her best when looking after others. May you now rest in peace, precious girl. We have always loved you Brett, no matter what. Nothing can change that. "Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

The addiction medicine program at St. Paul’s includes the Rapid Access Addiction Clinic (RAAC), a short-term outpatient addiction clinic providing consultation and stabilization for individuals with substance use disorders.

The clinic is designed to quickly connect patients seeking care for substance use disorders with evidence-based treatment, and subsequently transfer them to a community care provider for ongoing monitoring, support and rehabilitation.

The RAAC provides a safe space to get help from a physician, nurse or social worker for substance use and addiction. The team at the RAAC can also help provide patients with the tools to support their goals.

The clinic’s philosophy for treatment and care is client-centred practice, trauma-informed and without judgment, all within a healing environment.
