St. Paul's Foundation - In Memory Pages

In Memory of Chi Mei Kuan

In celebration of my birthday month I am raising money for St Paul’s Foundation, specifically Mount Saint Joseph Hospital’s senior center in honor of my grandma, Chi Mei Kuan.

She suffered a stroke in 2005 and never fully recovered. She needed full time care and lived at the seniors’ center until her passing.

I have a large family and we visited often. My dad and uncles made sure at least one of them saw her daily just so she won’t be lonely. When we weren’t there, the caregivers, nurses and doctors worked with her to ensure her best care. I am forever grateful.

They learned Chinese to encourage her to eat her meals and medicine. They engaged in conversation with her. They ensured she always had a blanket because she got cold easily.

Grandma, thank you for raising me and instilling your family values. I miss you and think of you often.

This is a tribute is a small gesture to the health care workers who give so selflessly.

Funds raised are used for medical equipment, quality of life programs and services, education, and research in the field of elder care.

Thank you for celebrating with me!
